Who We Are

OSMPC (Dr R. Oommen & Dr F. Schwarz Medicine Professional Corporation) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information when you visit our website at osmpc.ca and its related domains (“Website”). If you have questions about this Privacy Policy or wish to request changes to your data, please contact us at [email protected].

Data We Collect

When you sign up for our newsletter, we collect your email address.

When visitors leave comments on the site, we collect the data shown in the comments form, as well as the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help prevent spam. An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to determine if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

We use Google Analytics to record information about the pages a user has seen — for example, the URL of the page, time of day, and device used. The information that we collect is anonymized and sent to Google Analytics. Google Analytics primarily uses first-party cookies to report on visitor interactions on this website. Users may disable cookies or delete any individual cookie from their browser settings tab. In addition, Google Analytics supports an optional browser add-on that, once installed and enabled, disables measurement by Google Analytics for any site a user visits. Note that this add-on only disables Google Analytics measurement. Google Analytics also collects Internet Protocol (IP) addresses to provide and protect the security of the service, and to give website owners a sense of which country, state, or city in the world their users come from (also known as “IP geolocation”). See this page for Google Analytics security and usage of data: https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/6004245.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Cookies

We may use cookies and similar tracking technologies (like web beacons and pixels) to access or store information. Specific information about how we use such technologies and how you can refuse certain cookies is set out in our Cookie Notice.

We use essential cookies to enable core site functionality, such as allowing users to log in, comment on posts, and maintain session security.

If you leave a comment on our site, you opt in to saving your name and email address in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for one year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor had visited the other website. These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website. We are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of those third-party sites.

Children’s Privacy

Our Website is not intended for children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.

Who we share your data with

If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email. To assist with sending you requested information, we use Mailchimp (EMS) to collect and store your email address. Mailchimp’s Privacy Policy outlines their use of your personal data and anonymized data (linked here). You may opt out of the collection of your data by unsubscribing (we will remove your data) and contacting us using the instructions on this page. If you wish to contact Mailchimp directly regarding your data, you can do so through the contact information provided in their privacy policy.

The data collected may also be shared with service providers and others who help with our business operations and assist in the delivery of our products and services. Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users who register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profiles. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except that they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The most recent version will always be posted on this page, with the effective date updated.
